Babe Didriksen
Dose anybody like
sports? Well I do. I want to tell you about a woman sports hero I
like. She probably played every sport that she could play. Her
name was Babe Didrikson. Born 1913, she was the best women
athlete ever. Let me tell you what she did. She won twice in the
women basketball team and made three national records in track
field games. She was a contender in the 1932 Olympic Games held
in Los Angeles. She won the javelin throw (143 ft) and the 80-m
hurdle (11.7sec) and then played professional basketball. She
played professional golf. Between 1936 and 1954 she won every
major women's golf championship, including the U.S. Amateur
Championship (1946), and the World Championship (1948, 1949,
1850), and the U.S. Women's Open (1946, 1950, and 1951), both
professional tournaments. Babe died in 1956.
