Harriet Tubman was a very courageous and
brave woman. When Harriet was 13 years old she was hit in the head with a
metal weight and had sleeping spells for the rest of her life. Harriet
Tubman freed about 70 slaves. Harriet was also a spy during the Civil War.
When Harriet was in her last years, she helped poor people and died at age
93.
Harriet was born a slave in Bucktown,
Maryland. When she was 7 years old, she was hired out to work for another
slave owner. She took care of baby and she got whipped a lot. When she was
thirteen, she was hit on the head with an iron weight and had sleeping
spells for the rest of her life. When she was 30 something years old, she
was a spy for the Northern Army in the Civil War. After that she got a house
in Auburn, New York. She gave fruits and vegetables to every person who came
to her house. She died in 1913 and people remembered her as a heroine.

1908, she settled in Auburn, New York and helped the poor until she died in
