Between 1985 and 1988 Ronald Reagan and the Soviet Union leader, Mikhail Gorbachev met four times. As a result, they formed the Intermediate Range Nuclear Force Missile Treaty (INF Treaty) This decreased the number of nuclear bombs between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

John Hinckley shot Reagan in the chest on March 30, 1981 outside of the Washington Hilton Hotel, where he had just given a speech. The bullet was shot in his left lung. Hinckley shot him because he said it was a love offering to actress Jodie Foster, whom he had never met.

Reagan was very strict with terrorists. He would not make deals with them. He promised all terrorists would be punished. He also had said the United States would not negotiate for hostages.

After completing his two terms, he spent most of his time with his family on the California ranch. He is remembered for his economic policy because of his major tax and sharp budget cut. Reagan suffered from Alzheimer's Disease before passing away on June 5, 2004. He will be remembered for getting more votes in a Presidential election than anyone in American History!
