Principal's Message

Dr. George Cancro, Principal

horizontal rule

September 25, 2008

Dear Parents,

The start of the school year has been excellent.  The lazy days of summer have quickly transformed into the hustle and bustle of a new school year.  The Seniors have proudly staked out their places in the hierarchy of the school while beginning their quick march toward graduation and their exciting last year at Pleasantville High School.  The Freshmen have adjusted well to their new surroundings and are becoming an integral part of our high school, while the Sophomores and Juniors are quickly readjusting to traditional routines.

Our faculty is outstanding and committed to providing the best educational experience for all our students.  We are excited about the new year and are focused on energizing our students by challenging them academically and personally.  We believe that we can teach students to be competent, collaborative and caring citizens.  We recognize that all students have special gifts and talents, and that each can reach to his/her potential.  To that end, our faculty is continually exploring new and exciting methods to strengthen the curriculum and involve all students in the learning process.

To succeed we need the involvement of our parents.  The research is clear – when a parent is involved in his/her child’s education, the potential for his/he child being successful in school is substantially greater than when a parent is not involved.  If you have a concern or question, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher and/or guidance counselor.  Although it is critical that you deal directly with the teacher and/or guidance counselor first, Mr. Fonde and I are always available.

I am looking forward to another great school year.

Sincerely,

George P. Cancro
