OCCUPATIONAL EDUCATION Course Descriptions

The Center for Career Services, Southern Westchester BOCES

                                                                                              (Grades 11-12)

The Center for Career Services at 65 Grasslands Road, Valhalla, New York offers a program of occupational education designed to prepare students for gainful employment as skilled technicians.  Many students who graduate from these programs continue their education and receive college credits through articulation agreements that have been arranged with several two-year and four-year colleges and technical institutes.

Students may begin a program in their junior or senior year.  They attend The Center for a half-day, either in the AM or PM, and remain in their high school for the remaining part of the day.  They can receive 4 credits for each year in attendance.  Seniors entering a two-year program will have to pay tuition if they wish to continue and complete the program as post-graduates.

New York State proficiency exams will be required of all occupational education students, including a state examination in Introduction to Occupations.  The following academic courses are available at The Center for Career Services (as a pullout, if necessary) to fulfill graduation requirements.
