Hastings High School is a four-year public school accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Recognized as a United States Department of Education School of Excellence, Hastings High School challenges students to achieve at their highest level. The school provides a strong academic foundation for students who will pursue higher education as well as for those entering the business world. Students also prepare to be useful and productive members of society. The staff is dedicated to fully developing the abilities and talents of the students. The size of the student population allows staff to maintain close contact with each student and to individualize instruction. A rigorous core academic program, advance placement courses, honors program, and a selection of elective courses are offered. Students meet the stringent requirements of the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society. Special Education programs and the voluntary Hastings Alternative School Program are also provided.

The co-curricular and extra-curricular programs are varied and quite extensive, and involve over 75% of our students. Students participate in many activities including, but not limited to:

In May 2007, 191 students and wrote 335 AP exams in total.
73% of students scored 3, 4, or 5, the levels needed to receive college credit,
and an astounding 22% scored 5.
