The Eastchester Union Free School District values its strong relationship with parents, local organizations and businesses, town government and community leaders.
Community members are kept apprised of school activities through the district's newsletter, School Talk, through e-mails sent from the District’s K12 Alerts e-mail system, and by programming on the District’s cable channels 78 and 24.
Parents also are kept informed through weekly newsletters at the elementary schools and periodic newsletters from the secondary schools. In addition, PTA e-mail blasts are sent to members on a regular basis.
Board Advisory Committees
The Eastchester School District has established advisory committees for the purpose of involving parents and the community to advise the Board in various areas. Parents and community members are invited to sit on the following committees: Community Relations, Finance, Audit, Education, and Facilities.
Committees generally meet approximately six times a year. Meetings are usually held in the evening, for a maximum of two hours.
Interested parties are invited to submit a letter of interest, reasons for wanting to serve on the advisory committee, qualifications and/or resume to Board Advisory Committees, Eastchester UFSD Board of Education, 580 White Plains Road, Eastchester, NY 10709 or fax to: 793-9006. For additional information, please call the Public Information Office at 793-6130, ext. 4661.
Shared Facilities
The school district works with the community by making its facilities available to the town and local organizations. The district's auditoriums, fields, and gymnasiums are used for drama productions, concerts, sports events and other activities offered by the Town of Eastchester's Department of Parks and Recreation.
The E.A.S.Y. program (Eastchester After School Youth) uses the Anne Hutchinson School to provide an after school program for young children with working parents. The elementary PTA's often use their respective facilities for after school programs.
Joint Programs
The district enjoys a wonderful relationship with the Eastchester Police Department. A very special team of officers works with our elementary students in the DARE Program (Drug Awareness Resistance Education) as well as with the secondary students, who serve as role models for the younger children.
